The vision for the Idilevo Retreat Centre was conceived in April 2006 during a walk in the Balkan Mountains. Our purpose is to serve Christian leaders and pastors, who sacrifice so much to lead us.
The pressures of this role take a huge toll on many leaders, who become burnt-out and exhausted, weighed down by stress and sin that they feel unable to share, disenchanted and discouraged, and unsure even if they are in God’s will any more. Sadly, the first their people may know about this is when a leader succumbs to depression, illness or moral sin.Jesus explains the way He wants His leaders to act with words recorded by Mark and Matthew - (Mark 10:41-45, Matt 2:25-28).
Our mission is to help Christian leaders by:
- Providing a beautiful tranquil venue for both retreat and meetings
- Hosting a variety of opportunities for the Body of Christ to forge deeper love, unity and understanding – from within families, to within and between churches and interdenominational groups
Jesus loves and honours His leaders, and exhorts them to stay close to Him, as the source of their strength and direction - (John 12:26). We in turn, are to care for and honour our leaders, as they lay down their lives to serve Jesus and His church: The writer of the letter to the Hebrew churches encourages us to ‘Remember your leaders’ - (Hebrews 13:7).
